We bring Caerus’ strategic design process and fluency in complex systems to the defense and intelligence communities. Building on our flagship work in remote sensing and computational counterinsurgency, we apply techniques from the social and data sciences to find meaning in complexity.

Our Process


Frame challenges from a system perspective. Develop research and design programs for revealing and shaping the logic of complex systems.


Apply local and remote sensing, social and field research, quantitative analysis and qualitative assessment to generate practical inputs for modeling.


Build spatial, visual, qualitative and quantitative models of complex system dynamics, including constituents, flows, structures, patterns, drivers, behaviors and enablers.


Design social and technical programs, services and infrastructure interventions to amplify positive effects in the system.


Implement the interventions developed through the modeling and design process.


Gather feedback to refine system models, improve design strategies and increase the effectiveness of interventions.

Social Science

Focusing on quantitative techniques, we model the underlying data generating process—sensors, humans, or extant datastores. We bring subject matter expertise in conflict dynamics, illicit networks, and regional politics of the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia.

Data Science
